Tomorrow's Manna Will Come

There’s something coming up in a couple of months that has the potential to overwhelm me. And a few days ago as I thought about it, I was completely overcome. God kindly reminded me, as he has at every turn, that I do not have manna for that day yet. That is exactly why I cannot comprehend or hold that day in my heart, mind, or body. I just cannot do it. And so when I try to, I am overwhelmed.

This is why we are commanded to not be anxious about anything. This is why we are commanded to not worry about tomorrow. Jesus came to give us rest. He is our daily bread. He will give us daily manna. We cannot live off of the past manna and we cannot get future manna ahead of time.

This whole idea of not being anxious or worrying doesn’t imply that you don’t have things that you could be anxious or worry about. Jesus guarantees us that we will have trouble in this world. He also assures us that he the one who has overcome it. And in that, he has given us access to that victory and that rest. We walk through the valley of the shadow of death and we don’t have to fear.

This truth never gets old and it changes my life over and over and over again. Receive today’s manna and give thanks. Receive the rest that you have in Jesus. Tomorrow’s manna will come.
