An Invitation
I recently had some photos/videos taken for our upcoming Mary Ann release. It was yet another invitation into my word for the year — PLAY.
I told Lauren, our photographer, that this was so vulnerable! Dancing around in a dress with my sister in a park for all the people walking their dogs to see is a version of vulnerability for me. And it was actually not even about the other people in this scenario; it was about me experiencing myself in this scenario, if that makes sense.
I believe it’s important for us to not put things into categories like “spiritual“ and “non-spiritual.” As I think back on this night, I feel the Lord‘s delight in it. Even though it maybe wasn’t something overtly “spiritual,” like leading worship or reading my Bible or praying for someone, it was me accepting God’s invitation to play. There is joy found in playing, and in his presence is fullness of joy. (Psalm 16) It was 100% spiritual.
Maybe God is inviting you into something like this.
For example, maybe you’ve been reading Hebrews and thinking on “running the race” and what that means. Maybe God is inviting you to start running or to run a race in real life. Maybe there is a revelation God has for you in that obedience and in that action.
Maybe you’ve been sitting with “taste and see that the Lord is good.” Maybe there’s an invitation to experience new and different tastes from new and different foods. Maybe God wants to rewire how you experience him in the process of you using your sense of taste.
As we are obedient, things shift and are activated in us.
I think far too often we put God in a box, but he is found everywhere. He loves to be involved in the little and big details of your life. He loves to speak to you in a million different ways! He delights in you! What is he inviting you into today?
